Barilla Pastas

You may have noticed I buy a ton of pasta. What can I say? I am Italian. We normally try to buy the whole grain pastas since they are healthier for you. But recently our store started carrying the Piccolini line from Barilla.

They are the same fun shapes we like, just smaller. They are so cute and great for little mouths. Piccolini® comes in the following five miniature shapes to capture the imagination and meet a variety of recipe needs: Mini Farfalle, Mini Penne, Mini Wheels, Mini Fusilli and Mini Ziti.

Rain-X® Latitude™ Wiper Blades giveaway

It is rainy here in Texas today so I thought it was the perfect time to talk about wiper blades. Not just any wiper blades but rain-x latitude wiper blades. Clear visibility while driving is extremely important and can improve reaction times in poor weather conditions. In fact, according to a report released in June 2008 by sciencedaily.com, nearly a quarter of all automobile accidents occur in rainy and wet weather so making sure you have properly working wiper blades is important to help avoid accidents in poor weather conditions. By routinely checking your wiper blades and performing safety checks on your car you can help increase your safety while driving during inclement weather.

Rain-x is offering a Rain-X Car Care Kit that includes a set of Rain-X® Latitude™ Wiper Blades specific for your car, a bottle of Rain-X® Weatherbeater® 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner & Rain Repellant, and a bottle of new Rain-X® X-treme Clean to one lucky reader. All you have to do is fill out the form. One winner will be picked on March 16th at noon CST. At that time I will post the winner and you will have 48 hours to get back to me with your information. If I don't hear back at that time a new winner will be picked.

Charlie's Soap Review and Giveaway

When I first came across Charlie's Soap on the internet I first thought of the old days (like I am so old). I know it sounds crazy but I love the look of the packaging and knew it was something I wanted to try out. Charlie's Soap is a non-toxic, biodegradable laundry powder, laundry liquid and all purpose cleaner.

The 3 lb bag of laundry soap will last up to 80 wash loads and the price averages out to only 19¢ per load! All you need is one tablespoon for each load. When using Charlie's Soap you don't even need to use fabric softener, so you are also saving money right there.

When you first start using Charlie's soap it is suggested to use two tablespoons with just a small load of towels or rags. This will help clean out your washer first. You might not notice how great this soap is until after you have laundered the same item several times as is does take a little while to remove the grime and residue left on your clothes by other detergents. Charlie's Soap works in HE machines too!

After washing the same load of bath towels several times I noticed a big difference in them. First off they didn't have the normal scent they had before because my normal detergent is scented. Don't get me wrong, they didn't smell bad, they just didn't have the added perfume which is good for those with allergies. The towels became softer and more absorbent after several washes with Charlie's Soap too.

You can order Charlie's Soap online or find a retailer near you.

Charlie's Soap has agreed to give one reader a three month supply of their laundry powder. All you have to do is fill out the form. Entries will be taken until Thursday, March 12 at noon CST. At that time I will post the winner and you will have 48 hours to get back to me with your mailing information. If I don't hear back from you after 48 hours a new winner will be picked.

Ecover review

I found more great environmentally friendly cleaning products. They come from the company ECOVER. I recently put the lemon scented All Purpose cleaner to the test.

Being that we have two dogs, there is always a mess around their food bowl from spilled food and water. It is not something I want to use chemicals to clean around because the dogs lick the area, but plain water was not cutting it either. I followed the directions on the ECOVER All Purpose cleaner and added 1 capful in a bucket with warm water. After rubbing the dirty spot with a washcloth soaked in the bucket the dirty mess came clean. I was really impressed that I didn't have to keep scrubbing the area and I like the fact that the cleaner was not using harsh chemicals.

ECOVER has an entire line of environmentally friendly cleaners for your entire house. You can find them at places like Trader Joe's or go here for other stores in your area.

Journal Buddies review and giveaway

My youngest daughter is at the age where I want to encourage her to journal more. It helps with her overall writing skills to have her make daily journal entries. Sometimes though it is hard for her to come up with ideas on what to journal about.

I found Journal Buddies online and wanted to see what they were all about. Jill Schoenberg, creator of Journal Buddies has two great journals, one specifically for girls and one specifically for boys. They are both filled with activities to help you work with your child to improve their self-esteem and self-confidence while at the same time they are learning better writing skills.

Jill was generous enough to offer a giveaway of one Journal Buddies (either boys or girls, your choice) to one lucky reader. Entries will be taken until Friday, March 6th at noon, CST. At that time I will announce a winner and you have 24 hours to get back to me with your mailing information. If I do not hear back from you a new winner will be picked.

In addition to the giveaway Jill is offering a 25% discount using code "jane4girls" off the price of Journal Buddies purchases through her online store. The discount code is good until the end of March. These will make great gifts for all the little writers on your lists.

Sweet Services Review and Giveaway

As a former girl scout leader and room mother I was always looking for treats for special occasions. It became very costly to go to the store to get several bags of candy to use for goody bags for the class parties. Now through the internet those problems are solved.

I have found a great online bulk candy company: Sweet Services is a wholesale bulk candy company located in the Midwest with a sister branch in the Southwest called Southwest Candy! They serve large corporations and they also serve individuals who want to send their loved ones a little something sweet! They even have a sweet blog that always has something to say.

Three lucky winners will get to experience their candy first hand with a very generous giveaway of 5 lbs of bulk candy each! To be eligible for the giveaway you have to post a comment here on my blog then go visit the Sweet Services Blog and post a comment there also. Check out all the great assortment of candies they have to offer, like my old time favorites such as Bit-O-Honey, there is even something for Fido!

Entries will be taken until Sunday, March 8th at 7pm CST. Winners will be picked on Monday, March 9th and posted on the 10th after verifying you commented on both blogs. I will then contact you by email for your mailing information. If you post as anonymous please leave a way to contact you on both blogs or your entry will not count.
